Tumna City and it's Castle
Od'tumna has grown, and has firmly established its home in the lower caverns. The entrance to Tumna City is disguised in a magic wall...it appears as a slight "blur" in the stone facing. If you discover it and walk through, you will find yourself face to face with the wall of fire, which will incinerate any treacherous intruders. Further on, you are confronted by a huge wall, magically shielded (floor to ceiling, filling all space within the various caves and caverns), made from rough, grey, thick, heavy brick. This wall circles the entire city, and has four main gates: front, back, left and right. The gates are heavy wooden doors (mixed with vermillionite), spanning the entire heighth of the wall. Walking through the main gate, you soon arrive in the business section of the city; here there are many shops, especially since so many vendors immigrated to Od'tumna Town, having fled the now destroyed area of Hastinathule, where many of their stores were relocated. Here, also, is the Dancing Dragons Tavern that has become so popular amongst the people.
If you continue your journey through town, you will come to a second wall; this circles Od'Tumna Castle, and is also gated by huge wooden doors. As the gates open, the castle can be seen. Four stories tall, it is hewn from rough stone mixed with vermillionite (the special metal forged within Od'tumna), which gives it a grey-brown sheen; much of the roofing is of silver steel; it was built for defense more than for beauty..
The first floor boasts dining quarters, a ballroom, the kitchen, and a large, elegant waiting/recieving room with frescoes showing the known history of Od'tumna. Beautiful tapestries adorn the walls throughout. The second floor consists of bed chambers; on the third floor are all the offices, studies, as well as a library, and the fourth floor is just used for storage. The interior is all of black marble, and well-lit with torchlight at all times.
Sir Harry, the captain of the guard of Tumna City, has organized an elite group of guards for the walls surrounding the castle and the city (each red dot on the "circular" map shows their placement). They dress in black robes with gold trim, black helmets, and heavy black shields, and consist of the finest marksmen and swordfighters from far and wide. They don't play around...they are in position, and alert at all times, watching every move of those who pass through the gates.
The outer walls of the city have three defence modes:
NORMAL: Only the light shields are present, and the gates remain open, as all the guards are on low watch.
The Elite Guards man the gates here, as well: they can be seen on either side of every gate, with one in between each gate (again, note red on the "circular" map).
LOCKDOWN: This is full shield; nothing can enter or leave, and the guards become very aggressive, remaining on full alert.
ATTACK: The magic shields become very heavy, and cover even the roofs of the caverns within. This can only be penetrated from the inside.
