Mythod, the First River City | ||
| Name: Mythod Location: Nestled directly at the foot of the Daggerspeaks Mountains, situated around the Elysium River where it runs down from inside the mountains. Leadership: Mythod's political power is held by a group of higher classed noblemen. There are six of them, and they meet once a week as a council. Most meetings are open to the citizens for public forum so that each and every concern of the city is brought to the Council's attention and may have a solution found. Type: City Primary Race: Humans Currency: Standard Language: Common Religion: Most of Mythod follow the mountain God, Mannen. Climate: Winters are generally longer and harsher than the lower-elevation river cities, and Mythod will get snow. Springs are warm enough to melt the snow, but summers do not get much warmer than the springs and autum begins about a month earlier than other cities with heavier rainfall and decreased daylight. Resources: Mining, Foresting, Smithing, Fletching Trades/Professions: Flora: Mythod is considerably hilly and tree covered, mostly coniferous and continually green year-round. In the winter, the scenery is dusted over with snow sometimes piling up several feet high. It is rare that true storms interrupt Mythod's life-flow, but it does get extremely cold for about 8 weeks in the middle of the wintery season. When springtime rolls around, the hillsides are adorned by wildflowers, as it is in most all of Draelond. Fauna: Typical to mountainous and hilly regions, catering especially to the larger stag-like creatures and warm blooded furry mammals of the carniverous nature. Known Dangers: History: Mythod was founded as a small miner's town with one tavern and a group of fifty men holding shovels and picks. Slowly, the town grew as miners would marry and bring their family to Mythod, and eventually it just exploded into the city it is today. As the population heightened, and farms and houses began to pop up left and right, it was decided that a form of government organization was in order. The six most popular, and well-suited, men were chosen to make up the Mythod council. As time wore on and council members retired, others were instated. Finally, in the last twenty years, larger mining camps were developed in the mountains and peace agreements were made with the dwarves of Khaz-Coragh. They graciously allowed Mythod miners to work their mountain under the condition that they received a relative percentage that was discussed and renegotiated every other year. Now, Mythod is shipping minerals down river to other cities such as Cothich, Lockport, and Lucre and this has become their most influential economic activity. In the winter season, miners do not work and are therefore at home for a minimum of two months. | ||
