Six Quick Facts to know
when playing in Barra Lanke.

1. You do not have to be evil aligned to play in Barra Lanke.
Within the walls of the trade city everyone is about as welcome, and safe, as they could possibly be in the Underdark. The city is under strict military law which is heavily enforced by council soldiers and anyone breaking the laws can expect to be harshly punished.

2. Barra Lanke is an island in the middle of a lake in the Underdark.
You can take boats, just not carriages, from the other ports and small towns around the edge of the lake. A massive portal to the City of Gates can also be found within the city.

3. Abraxas and Konstantanya are not the rulers of Barra Lanke, but members of the ruling council.
The ruling council is made up of several representatives. The ilithid Orzeron Veldeshar is at its head.

4. People cannot simply ‘appear’ at the Council.
The Great Hall holds of the most powerful people in the underdark and so is full of enough protective magics to keep anyone out. Meetings with the Barra Sengeren and arrangements to speak before the Council are appointment only and the latter are rarely granted.

5. The majority of Council Members do not live on the island.
They may hold residences, but their strongholds and homelands are in their respective territories outside the city boundaries.

6. Real estate is expensive. Very expensive.
It’s an island, land is at a premium and so only the immensely wealthy can afford to maintain a residence there. While they may be impressive, none are large. But there are numerous, more affordable, inns.
