Name: Vyschlaz
Leaders: Shuenok, a varkhan Lizard King.
Type: Feudal Monarchy
Location: South-easternmost Southern Mainlands.
Monetary unit: None.
Ethnicity/Race: Varkha and their slaves. Nothing else. Slaves don’t live long.
Language: The varkhan language, itself a twisted dialect off of the more common lizardman tongues.
Religion: Sess’innek. Although a few of the lesser varkha still worship Semuanya in the silence of their own minds (usually a very silent place for a lizardman), those few who voiced a preference for this deity got eaten by Shuenok.
Climate: Warm and humid, with numerous subterranean rivers and lakes in the area.
Flora and Fauna: A fairly fertile area of the underdark, numerous species of fungi, algae and lichen flourish near the village. The rivers and lakes contain a wide variety of fish and freshwater crustaceans, both food for the varkha and bait to draw the larger underdark creatures they prefer. However, their hunting is sufficiently destructive that they cannot maintain a breeding population in the region, and they have earned enough of a reputation among the other subterranean races that most now avoid the area.
Known Dangers: Primarily varkha, although aboleth occasionally foray into the larger lakes and rivers.
History: Varkha are brutal, lawful evil lizardmen dwelling in close-knit tribes among the moist caverns of the southern lands, deeper than most other underdark races. They are skilled hunters, with large photosensitive eyes that grant them excellent vision both on land and under water. Arms, hands and feet are slightly webbed, to facilitate swimming.
Vyschlaz is the largest, and in fact one of the only varkha tribes on Rosha. Although not a large settlement, they make up for low numbers in a high level of ferocity, and are somewhat more cunning than the breeds of lizardman common to the surface.
