Leaders: Zhlaus is the current chieftain, and unique among trog chieftains in that he is also a priest. Greatly feared even among his own people, this massive mutant, standing head and shoulders above most others of his kind, is that rarest of creatures - perhaps it was even this accident of birth that forced him to exceed all others of his race in cunning and vicissitude, merely to survive to adulthood. He is an albino.

Troglodytes are a warlike race of carnivorous reptilian humanoids who dwell in natural subterranean caverns in the upper reaches of the Underdark. They stand about six feet tall, covered in roughened leather scales, and have a toothy lizard-like head. Troglodytes are natural chameleons, but greyish brown is the most common skin colour. Troglodytes secrete an oil that saps strength from humans and demi-humans.
Language: A variation of draconic singular to the trogs.
Religion: The Troglodytes worship Laogzed, and revere it each year at a ritual shedding of skins, which are sacrificed to the vile demigod. It is considered an important mark of status for each shaman to have his own steel javelin.
Climate: Very warm and moist - the rare ‘city’ of the troglodytes is located near a subterranean lava-stream, due to their reptilian need for heat.
Resources: No exportation or importation of anything but the latest meal.
Flora and Fauna: Although plant life survives in the area, it is rare to find any animal near the lair/city other than a troglodyte, since they tend to eat them whenever possible.
Known Dangers: The troglodytes are the main danger, even to each other.
