Climate: Vvrok’uvin is built in a large matrix of limestone caverns near the Fanchon Ocean, and as such many of the caves are partially aquatic, partially dry. The tides and warm undercurrents of the ocean create a weather system within the caverns, very much like the surface: humid and hot during the summer and cold and icy in the winter. Within the caves, it has even been known to rain.
Flora and Fauna: Because of the abundance of water, there is a variety of life within these caverns. Starting near the numerous entrances, bats and insects and other cave visitors thrive. Plant-life creeps into the darkness, grabbing up what little light is available, surviving on the brink of light and shadow, and providing food for the creatures that dwell within complete darkness.
Fungus-eaters such as flatworms, spiders other small animals within the cave system feed on the molds and bacteria. These animals then become food for the larger predators in the cave, including salamanders, crayfish and blind cave fish. As the larger animals die, decay sets in and organic material is then returned to the cave environment. The entire food chain process begins again. All species in the cave system are dependent upon each other for survival.
History:Vvrok'uvin is the oldest and largest of the drow cities in the Underdark. It is also the darkest and most decadent place on all of Rosha, a name it wears proudly. ‘The City of Wicked Pleasure’ it is known as, and that is because the most depraved and perverse acts that any other sane race might find grotesque, are practiced openly by the debauched drow.
The extreme wealth the city has amassed over the years has left the drow spoiled and bored, and in desperate search for the next shock to the society. Sex, drugs, slaves, body mutilations, even death even can be purchased on every corner of the city. ANYTHING can be acquired, as long as you have something someone else wants.
The History of Vvrok’uvin is ripe with intrigue and betrayal, as with any other drow city. Founded over 3000 years ago, this city was home to the first drow that arrived on Rosha. And as such, it has waxed and waned along with the dark wishes of the drow’s Spider Queen Goddess, Lolth.
Of particular note was the part that Vvrok’uvin played in the creation of the Runic Elven nation of Sum’fir and its subsequent destruction almost 1500 years later in 3171 vin.
To this day, there are still a large number of surface sympathizers that live within the city. Hunted, but still growing in numbers. These followers of Eilistraee constantly fight for freedom from their dark matriarchs.
