The King does carry a ring enchanted by the High Priest of Clangeddon that allows him to escape any trap or spell that restricts his movement, hinders his mind or enfeebles his strength. As a King, however, he can usually get his hands on nearly any Dwarven magical item and the occasional non-dwarven magic item acquired through trade.

COMBAT

Weapons & Armor: Dorn wields a double-headed battle axe called Skullbiter enchanted by the Clerics of Clangeddon to cut through stone and cleave Magical defenses as though they do not exist. It is never far from his hand. He wears a light suit of enchanted Dwarven mail beneath his tunics at all times. When he expects combat, he dons the ceremonial armor of the Ironshield King. This armor allows him to withstand the breath of a Fire Dragon with little effort due to its enchantment against fire and fire magics. As a King in his kingdom, Dorn is capable of getting his hands on nearly any dwarven crafted item within a few hours.
Special Attacks: Dorn never enters combat alone, as he is always accompanied by his Battle Guard, a small cadre of specially trained dwarven Battleragers dedicated to protecting their King with their lives. Dorn can and usually does lead this Guard from the front where he inspires them to greater heights of skill and violence. Dorn has no special attacks, just the skill and courage of a Dwarven King defending his people and home.

Special Defenses: His Ceremonial armor defends him against fire of any sort, including divine, infernal, psionic and magical. He could walk through a lava pit without complaint.

Special Abilities: His position allows him to call upon the resources of a prosperous Dwarven Kingdom.

Description:King Dorn stands as the very epitome of a dwarven warrior. Short of stature, but stout as rock, the King of the Ironshield dwarves can appear nearly carved from rock from his stern visage and unwillingness to retreat from a diplomatic position or battleline. Scars are seen on his face, which is perplexing since the Clerics of the Ironshield are skilled at healing. If asked, Dorn replies that the scars improve his looks. Thick blond hair tops his head and covers the worst of the scarring on his face. Living a life beneath the earth has left him and his clan with the pallor of those that have rarely seen the sun. His ceremonial armor is covered with murals depicting the history of the clan, as the armor is improved upon by every succeeding King. In his day to day adornment, he appears as any ordinary dwarf with the exception of his iron-colored eyes which he seems to never close, forever watching and scanning those around him and the room he currently resides in. Only in his throne room does he seem to relax and even then he never takes his eyes off those that stand before him as he sits on his Iron Throne.

HISTORY

King Dorn Ironshield came to power a century and a half ago, after the death of his father at the hands of an orcish raiding party. He was considered an unblooded youth of 125 who did not have what it took lead a dwarven Kingdom. Three days after his father's ashes were scattered over the Deep Rift, Dorn took up his father's axe and left Belegostaad with his Battle Guard. He returned a month later, with three remaining Battle Guard, scarred and lamed. He also returned with the Orc chief's surprised head. This set the temper of the new King as he led the Clan as they spent the next 25 years hunting the remaining Orc tribes to near extinction. He earned the Dwarf name Orcdeath for his singleminded lust to destroy any remnants of those responsible for his father's demise. The next century passed quickly as the clan continued their military ways and prepared for inevitable war with those Below. Now, the Clan stands on the knife's edge of readiness and no enemies have shown themselves. King Dorn shows no sign of impatience or disbelief in the Priests' pronouncements of coming Doom. Spending most of his time hearing the pleas of his people and practicing his battle-craft, this King hopes only to live up to the legends that came before him.
