Drakelings ![]() |

The information that Loki has been able to find out about his race follows:
Drakelings are the products of high magic and emotional output released into the cosmos by the mating of a dragon and his or her chosen mate. Each drakeling seems to have a emotion that calls to them, effects them more profoundly than others. For instance a drakeling that was the product of rape could closely identify themselves with fear, or anger or any of the emotions associated with such a traumatic occurance. A drakeling that was the product of a loving coupling could respond to joy or any of those other emotions linked to love. Drakelings do -not- breed true, which is the main reason that they are so rare a hybrid. They can only spawn drakelings by the same manner in which they were created, by the special magical and emotional insinuations. Drakelings also appear to be normal examples of their race, and cannot shift forms until reaching young adulthood. And when they do shift they must learn their flight skills just as any hatchling would and may find themselves diminutive by dragon standards, as none have yet reached more that 75 feet long and 25 feet tall. Their scales or hide can be any color, but tend to follow the coloration in their draconic parent's line. The shifting maybe done at will, but the forms do have their drawbacks and so most born to humanoids do not use their dragon forms very often, preferring to use either their humanoid or drake forms. They don't always know of their draconic liniage, however and sometimes the first shifting can be less than well timed. The transformation isn't neccessarily painful, but it can be rather disconcerting.. After all, it's not easy to suddenly sprout a tail and wings. |

Drakeling abilities
Limited telepathic ability, rage, limited breathweapon, shapeshifting, empathy. Telepathy: This is a simple, five foot radius broadcast of thoughts, usually the main method of communication due to the drake body being limited in speech capability. Rage: In this state, a drakeling cannot concentrate to use any abilities or items that require concentration, will or a command word to activate. They are unable to use magic or psionics, and will not stop fighting until they are killed, knocked out, the object of their rage is destroyed, or it is removed from sight. Drakelings are unable to otherwise tell friend from foe, save for certain, closer persons(a mate, close friend, etc). The illogical, beastial side of their draconic nature comes to the fore. A drakeling's body is fueled by their rage, pushing them sometimes to great feats of stamina and/or strength. They can take a fairly decent amount of punishment before they drop, though it is quite possible to knock out or kill them. The trade-off for this heightened physical prowess: they tend to lose any and all connection with anything logical, tactical or magical. They lack the focus to use psionics and magics, anything that requires conscious thought to use(a triggered or will based magical item or effect, for example)is far from their grasp. Furthermore, unless holding a weapon in hand when rage in entered, no weapons will be used, the swings powerful but not calculated. At the end of this rage, (as it does take its toll) they are winded and exhausted, needing to rest for at least a couple of hours before the have regained enough strength to function properly. Breath Weapon: This is a quarter as effective as a full dragon's breath attack, and varies by dragon parent's color and type. Shapeshifting: There are three forms drakelings may assume, humanoid, drake and dragon. The humanoid form looks normal for their race, en elf looks like an elf, etc. The drake form is a smaller version of the dragon form, sharing colorations, but lacking a breath weapon and usually growing no more than two feet long. The dragon form looks like a smaller, almost stunted version of their parent dragon, and capable of a limited breathweapon. Both draconic forms can fly, and it is possible, though difficult, to manifest wings in the humanoid form, though they are only strong enough for a short glide due to underdeveloped flight muscles. |
