Slavery in Auvrynon

The City of Gates welcomes people from numerous realms, some here with a purpose others that fell into the storm and are now trapped. The city tries to tolerate all cultures of prosperous, civilized people.

Slavery is not practiced in the City of Gates, but it also is not illegal.
Citizens of the City of Gates cannot own slaves. However, visitors to the City of Gates are allowed to travel with their slaves.

A person can own a slave, but cannot traffic slaves.
The sale or purchase of slaves within the City of Gates is completely forbidden, and those caught practicing this act will be expelled from the City and their slaves freed.

A person can have his or her slave with him or her, but cannot humiliate a slave within the City.
This includes restraining the slave with visible shackles and/or chains. Small, discrete, even magical means are allowed.

Slaves must be clothed in a respectful manner.
These clothes should at least be similar to what free commoner in the City of Gates would wear.

Because of these rules, it is understood that a master should have enough control over his or her slaves that neither make a public spectacle of themselves. Should a slave become a public nuisance, both the slave and the master will be expelled from the City of Gates.
