Archived: Two New Game Masters & Two New Rooms!

Welcome aboard, Harlequin (GM) and Pandemonia (GM)! We're looking forward to seeing your new games in Auvrynon.
And two new site rooms! Both are Outer Realm rooms in the Historical Fiction genre. They are permanent rooms that blend with the New York City room, all three are the Victorian Era. London by Gaslight and the Wild West. Data (GM) will run games in those rooms.
Stats in these rooms will be: Body and Profession. Starting stats maximums will consist of only one Expert 11 and the other can only be as high as Skilled 14. So longevity in these new outer realms is rewarded.
The Profession stat will encompass a variety of jobs that were available during this time period. It could be sharpshooter, gambler, royalty, police officer, shaman, African adventurer, pick pocket or anything in between.
We hope these new rooms expand interest in the growing genre of historical fiction. For more information....

Acceptable Narrative Styles

Mystical Realms has standards above other chats and we strive to keep a great community of experienced and/or enthusiastic role players. But we also have a certain ambience within the chat and always have. We are fussy about chat names, settings, themes and races. And now after a couple of years of watching and debating, we have decided it's time to act upon the narrative styles used throughout the chat.
Going forward, within the chat, 1st person and 3rd person, present tense, are preferred . 3rd person, past tense, is tolerated. 3rd person, future tense is no longer permitted in role play at Mystical Realms.
What is 3rd person, future tense? An example would be - She would enter the inn and sit down. She would order her coffee. She would flick a peanut at the barkeep.
It is the use of the word 'would' or 'will' that makes it future tense and while it is popular on IRC channels, it is not something permitted in the chat rooms of Mystical Realms.

This year Mystical Realms has expanded in new and exciting ways. The addition of the Outer Realms has proven to be very popular and we are glad that MR can support other storytelling genres such as Action, Contemporary Fantasy, Historical Fiction, Horror, Science Fiction, Steampunk and Western.
As our site evolves, it becomes necessary to make changes to better serve the growing and diverse population of a site of our size. One change is the implementation of requirements for chamber pages linked directly from the chat.
Everyone must now have a home page link and the page needs to comply with these new standards, which don’t take all that long to add to a page. These requirements make the chambers easier to use from the chat. Required information is as follows:
Realm icon: The appropriate realm that the character belongs, either Zatrikion or one of the Outer Realms. It is always located in the upper right of the chamber and should not be altered from its original form.
The Realm Name: To be located directly beneath the Realm Icon. Be sure to list the name of the specific realm, such as Auvrynon or the appropriate Outer Realm name such as Evanwyn.
Stats: In Zatrikion it is Mind/Body/Magic. Those are the only three stats used and the only ones that should be listed. Outer Realms each have their own requirements. There is no defined place for these, as long as they are easy to locate.
Character Description: A complete physical description is needed. Listing the eye color, height, weight, race is fine but a detailed, written description is necessary as well. We want to know what we are looking at when we see your character.
Music: If you have music on any page of your chamber, there must be an off switch.
We have provided both a simple and a detailed template for members to use. Of course, everyone is welcome to create their own pages so long as the page linked to the chat complies with the above standards.

As of February 1st, chambers will be mandatory for all characters regardless of longevity at the site and to which realm one is a part of. Each realm, from Zatrikion to each of the Outer Realms, now have chamber templates. Each realm has the detailed template, that you are used to seeing. A simplier, basic template has been created as well. Basic template is name, stats and detailed physical description along with the correct realm badge and the specific realm name listed under it. That is the –minimal- amount of information required for the page linked to the chat name.
The realm badge needs to be in every existing chamber, upper right corner on the page that is linked to the chat name. There is to be no writing above the realm badge and no other image above it, we need it to be found quickly. Please do not change the color or alter the realm badges in any way. Realm badges need to only be on the page linked to the chat.
Registration forms now exist for the Outer Realms. And as you can see there is a button up top that leads to them for further information. As the rules that we’ve used throughout the site are now open for change for the Outer Realms, there is a page on what is acceptable for these characters.

Hello True MR'ers, hope you all have had a glorious New Year's. Welcome to 2010. Here at MyRealms, we've implemented changes for this upcoming year like we've never thought we would. We are opening up the realms for possibilities outside of Zatrikion. This includes new rules and new realities. Already we have lined up Steampunk, Science Fiction, and a Fantasy realm that has its own rules for magic and combat. We hope to see a realm of Horror, all it takes is someone that wants to open it. These changes will require new rules for character travel, and those will be posted within the next few days and once those are posted we'll open the new rooms. We hope you enjoy expanding your role play horizons.
Would you believe that Lurking Madness is celebrating year 7 as a Game Master at Mystical Realms? Thank you for everything you do, Madness! Also, you've no doubt noticed that we've added new GMs for Auvrynon, Rage and Data. We wish many good stories for them in the year to come.
Throughout the year we hope to hold a few IC celebrations for characters, like what we did this past Halloween. Day for Lovers in early spring is one we hope will be fun.
And finally, even though we had all of our issues with the server this year, with our hard drive crashing and being moved, and then countless issues with email that was forcing the jumps-tos; we've not increased our operating costs. And so that means we're not increasing membership rates. Thank you all for supporting us through all the ups and downs this last year.
